Journal Portrait: Frozen Winter
by Bonnie Jones
Into the Frozen Winter
“Into the frozen winter, darkness, stillness, ebb. Dec. 18 – my last chemo. Dec. 21 – the darkest day. Then bit by bit the light returns.”
A new journal portrait to follow this one and this one. The author wrote this towards the end of her cancer treatment. She reflected on how her illness seemed to correspond to the changing seasons. For a larger version, click on the image.

This is so beautiful and poignant, Bonnie.
Feels appropriate for this time of year…Happy new year, Amy!
Another fantastic image in this series, Bonnie! I have loved the idea behind these shots since I saw the first one a few years ago, and I am always so happy to see more.
Thanks Victoria…that’s nice to hear. I thoroughly enjoy making these pictures (though I am moving at a snail’s pace!) Just visited your blog and saw your sweet new baby. What a way to begin the year!
