Oak, Palm, Magnolia

On Teddy’s evening walks these days, I am surrounded by oaks, palms and magnolias. A few months ago it was douglas firs, cedar, and hemlock. It still surprises me that I am now in Florida.  The scenery has changed but my ritual with my favorite companion has not.

For the month of June, these six prints are available for a special price on my website. My idea is to pick a group each month and offer them at a reduced price directly from the Purchase page. Last month was consumed by my move, and the update didn’t happen! So here is June’s selection, a little early.

These prints are recent photograms, made in my darkroom using delicate objects. They are 12″ x 12″, and each is $105.

A sweet picture of a neighbor and her baby goat. “Boo” is a Tennessee Fainting Goat, a breed of goat that faints when it gets nervous or frightened. Boo was very comfortable frolicking with the dogs when I visited, so I didn’t get to see her fall to the ground. But the idea amused me so much I had to go to YouTube:

I couldn’t resist making some notecards with this photo of a wonderful bird’s nest I found recently. I paired the picture with a quote by Stephen Butler Leacock, “It may be that those who do most, dream most.”

I made this happy photo about a year ago on my favorite beach back in Washington. The quote, by Andre Gide, is an old favorite that seems to be in my head all the time this past month as many unexpected joys have come my way. Like moving back to Florida:)

Things are coming along here in my workspace…mostly thanks to Teddy.

I’ve just added three new photo blocks to my shop. These are photogram prints I made shortly before I left Washington using some delicate little objects like butterfly wings and feathers. They are 6″ x 6″ prints mounted on maple panels, ready to hang.

She needs a helmet, I thought.

And then, look at the wonderful way her hair is blowing in the wind! Glad she’s not wearing a helmet!

I’m happy to report that my shop is open for business again!

I’ve got my workspace mostly set up and today I worked on some custom notecards using this great picture of Brandy the dog. Brandy’s owner wanted some cards made with her photo of a sweet day at the beach in 1999. I smiled when I saw on the back of the photo that it’s the same area Teddy and I enjoyed about a week ago.

Has it already been a month and a half since I left Washington? Yesterday the movers came and delivered what seems like twice as much STUFF as we need.

Here’s a photo of what will be my photography workspace. This pile is daunting but I will take it one object at a time, and hopefully, turn this room into a place I love to to be in.

Best of all, my new room has a door, which is a first among my various workspaces.
